4. THE CAST MEMBERS
There are numerous interesting facts related to the cast of the Originals. Did you know that Joseph Morgan (Klaus Mikaelson) and Michael Davis (Marcel Gerard) were good poker buddies and this was years before they started working on the show together. They weren’t the only cast members who were friends with each other before the show. Phoebe Tonkin (Hayley) and Claire Holt (Rebekah) have been besties since they were teenagers as both of them grew up in Sydney. They also were the main leads in a show called H2O: Just Add Water in which they played mermaids.
Michael Davis who played the character of Marcel Gerard, the adopted son of Klaus Mikaelson, had to face plenty of struggles before landing up a lead role in The Originals. The actor auditioned for TVD at least 5 or 6 times, but got rejected. Fast forward to a few years later, he got a call from the production manager and when he read the lines of his character, he just knew that it’s his role.
3. THE STORY THAT JULIE PLEC WANTED TO TELL, BUT COULDN’T
The showcreator Julie Plec has revealed in an interview that there’s one story that she wanted to tell on the Originals, but never got the chance during the five seasons. That one story is the full werewolf transformation of Klaus Mikaelson. Julie revealed that it was due to financial reasons that the story couldn’t happen. As we all know Klaus Mikaelson was born a werewolf and then through magic he became an Original Vampire, he was the first hybrid in TVD Universe. In TVD second season, the purpose of his arrival was to unlock his werewolf side through the hybrid ritual which he ultimately managed to. But we never got to see him in his werewolf form.
Julie Plec originally planned to showcase his werewolf transformation in the penultimate episode of the Originals. The initial draft had Klaus transforming with Hope, a father and daughter moment together. She desperately wanted to make it happen, but time and financial constraints stopped her.
2. KLAROLINE ENDING
When Julie Plec first started writing the Originals, her plan was to make Klaus and Caroline end up together. Once everything is over, Klaus would be in Paris with Caroline, that was the idea. However, the events that happened in the Vampire Diaries made her change the plan. With Caroline and Stefan falling in love and marrying each other. Then she lost Stefan tragically, it would have been wrong to have Caroline move on from Stefan and to go on traveling the world with Klaus Mikaelson.
She believed that Stefan’s memory was important to protect than the Klaroline ship. She didn’t feel right to make Klaus the one true love of Caroline and on the top of that, Caroline had other stuff such as daughters who need her care, a Supernatural school to run, and then her life too. Plec said that Klaus’ connection with Caroline is special, he impacted her in profound ways, but she’ll be alright without him.
1. JOSEPH MORGAN
The character of Klaus Mikaelson is a skilled artist who can often seen painting in the show. He does his best thinking while working on a canvas. But did you know that Joseph Morgan, the actor who played Klaus, is a real life artist who spends his free time sketching and painting. Joseph Morgan is the only actor who has appeared in every episode of the show. The actor revealed that he would never do a cameo on Legacies because according to him the story of Klaus was wrapped up beautifully on the Originals. Him reappearing and playing the character would only do injustice to the character’s journey.
