Caroline Forbes also had Damon’s blood in her system when Katherine killed her, causing her transition. Finally, Bill Forbes was injected with Damon’s blood by Meredith to heal his injuries and was killed by the Dark Alaric. When he woke up, he was in transition, but he refused to go through it.

2. TRAUMATIC CHILDHOOD
Damon had a traumatic childhood, he suffered plenty of abuse at the hands of his father Giuseppe Salvatore. As a kid, he had a pet turkey named ‘Sammy’. So one thanksgiving his father made him behead his pet turkey and then eat her at the table because he believed that animal was supposed to be his food, not his friend.
