Welcome back to Humor Nation. The Mikaelson Family is perhaps one of the most important families in the TVD Universe. It wouldn’t be wrong to say that without the Mikaelsons, there would be no Vampire Diaries. It all started with Esther and Mikaelson. Esther came from a family of witches who got married to the brute Viking Mikael. After being unable to have children, she turned to her sister Dahlia for help. Dahlia used a spell which resulted in the barren Esther having children, but the spell had a huge price. She took away the first born Mikaelson, Freya, the first child of Esther.
Esther lied to Mikael about the disappearance of Freya and told him that she died in a plague. The loss of her baby girl completely changed Mikael who became abusive towards his remaining children. The Mikaelson family left Norway and found themselves settled in a mystical land which would came to be known as Mystic Falls. It was her Esther gave birth to Klaus, Rebekah, Henrik, and Kol. While Mikael was bitter towards all his children, but Klaus was at the worst receiving end, he experienced the wrath of his father.
Tragedy struck the Mikaelson Family when their youngest Henrik was mauled by the werewolves who found him and Klaus sneaking up on them. Fearing for his family’s safety, Mikael and Esther decided to use magic to protect their family. This resulted in the birth of the Originals, the first vampires. All the Vampires in the existence came from the Originals. The Original Vampires are nearly immortal and extremely powerful. They can only be killed using the White Oak Dagger. The reason behind it is Esther used the White Oak Tree as an ingredient while converting her children into the Originals. Therefore it eventually became a weakness of the vampires.
After becoming vampires, the Mikaelson siblings swore to be together for eternity. Their father Mikael also made a vow to end his children especially Klaus whom he considered to be an abomination. Despite being an Original Vampire himself, Mikael hunted the Vampires, earning the name of ‘The Destroyer’. His children went on a run for centuries, they would ultimately settle in a city which came to be known as New Orleans.
