Welcome back to Humor Nation. Season 12 of the CW hit TV series Supernatural premiered on 12 March 2016. This season consisted of 23 episodes and it concluded with the finale episode titled ‘All Along The Watchtower’. Season 12 of the show is filled with several surprises and twists. The season continues with the adventures of Sam and Dean Winchester as they prepare to battle new foes. The premiere episode of this Season started off with the resurrection of Sam and Dean’s mother Mary Winchester. Mary has been the main driving force behind the plot as it was her untimely demise which pushed John Winchester into the hunting world, as a result he also ended up raising his boys in the same lifestyle. Season 11 finale saw Dean Winchester managed to convince Amara to reconcile with her brother Chuck AKA God.

Amara rewards Dean for his compassion by bringing back Mary Winchester who finds herself in the present day with lots of explaining to be done. This season also featured a new group of hunters known as the ‘British Men of Letters’. These folks have an entirely different way of dealing with Supernatural threats. They do offer their assistance and support to the Winchesters and ask them to join hands with them, but soon their true intentions come to surface.

Another highlight of Season 12 is the Nephilim Jack who is the child of the archangel Lucifer. A Nephilim is a being which is conceived due to a union between a human and an angel. This unborn Nephilim houses an enormous power and bring all sorts of destruction. The Winchesters have their concerns about their birth of the Nephilim, but Castiel is convinced that this unborn child will do good.

This season also marked the final appearance of Mark Sheppard who first appeared in Season 5 as the demon Crowley and since then has been an integral part of the show. The finale episode saw Mark’s character Crowley sacrificing himself to give the boys a fighting chance by closing the rift and entrapping Lucifer in it. Interestingly, along with Lucifer, the British Men of Letters have served as the main antagonists of this season, making this to be the first ever season where humans are the primary antagonists. The finale episode also featured the alternate SPN world which was opened due to Jack Kline. In this world, John and Mary never got married as a result the Winchester brothers are never born. Due to their absence, the apocalypse couldn’t be prevented.
