Lucifer managed to get a temporary vessel in the form of Nick, but nothing would stop him from possessing Sam. This results in Sam drifting to the dark side with the sole purpose of stopping Lucifer using his special powers, Dean fears that he would lose his brother in the fight with Lucifer. All this brought an intense and dynamic emotional layer to the series which showcased the unbreakable bond between the boys.

The boys take a final stand stand against the archangel Lucifer, to stop the apocalypse. Lucifer has taken the possession of Sam and he is ready to fight against his brother Michael who houses inside the vessel of Adam Milligan. The climax of the Swan Song highlights the great sacrifice of Sam Winchester, the love of the family between the boys, and the feeling of selflessness for the greater good. Many consider ‘Swan Song’ to be among the best episodes of the show and feel that it should have been the ‘true conclusion’ of the show.
