The CW

Bobby Singer is arguably the most beloved and popular character after the trio of Winchesters and Castiel. There’s no doubt that he’s the best and most caring parental figure the boys ever had. Sam and Dean wouldn’t be what they are without the help of Bobby. He mentored them, looked after them like they are his boys. But did you know that the character of Bobby Singer wouldn’t have debuted on the show if it wasn’t for the absence of Missouri Moseley. The actress Loeretta Devine who played Missouri was unable to appear in Supernatural Season 1 finale therefore Eric Kripke and team was forced to create the character of Bobby Singer. Originally, Bobby was meant to be a one-off character, but he received extremely great positive response which convinced the writers to keep him around. They kept expanding on his character, explored his backstory, and rest is history.

The CW

It’s amazing how some of the most beloved characters such as Bobby and Charlie could only appear because some other character’s actor was unable to be present in a specific episode. Charlie Bradbury is the sister the Winchesters wish they had. She is very intelligent and has proven to be a great ally to the boys. The character of Charlie came into existence because the actor Kevin McNally who played the computer expert Frank Devereaux, a friend of Bobby, was unable to be present in the subsequent episodes. The writers came up with the character of Charlie who is also a computer geek and assisted the Winchesters in their fight against the Leviathan Roman. Roman sought out her help in order to break into the hard drive of Frank, but after learning the reality of Leviathans, she not only wiped the drive of Frank, but also accessed the emails of Roman which greatly helped the boys.
