7. RETURN OF ACTORS
While no actor ever wants to leave a show that has given him popularity, fame, and success. But sometimes when an actor feels there’s no more story or direction left for his character or that he wants to experiment with his acting skills by taking on different and challenging roles, they make the decision of leaving a show. This was the case when Nina Dobrev & Michael Trevino both left TVD in Season 6. The writers had nothing on plate for Trevino’s character Tyler while Nina wanted to explore other avenues. However, they would both return in the final episode of the Vampire Diaries, making their presence felt in an effective fashion.
Similarly, after the completion of Originals in a beautiful manner where Klaus & Elijah bid goodbye to the world in a poetic fashion. Joseph Morgan has made it clear that he has no intention of reprising the role as Klaus’ arc was wrapped up beautifully and to play him again would mean undoing the ending. However, when it was announced that Legacies is no longer renewed on CW Network, meeting its premature end. Julie Plec and team drafted the best ending that they could for Legacies which featured a small cameo from Klaus Mikaelson. Joseph Morgan became convinced that Klaus’ appearance helps the story and makes a meaning contribution so he returned for a brief cameo in the final episode of the Legacies.
6. ELENA FALLS FOR DAMON
When the show began, right from the pilot episode, Elena was drawn to the mysterious brooding handsome vampire named Stefan. There was an unexplained chemistry between the two. Both of them soon started dating and it seemed their connection is eternal. However, enter Damon! Elena finds herself attracted to him in a forbidden desire. Although knowing Elena who stands for her values and what she believes in, it seemed like she would never be with a person like Damon who brought chaos to Mystic Falls. But three seasons later, we find Elena & Stefan in love with each other while poor Stefan is driven out of the picture. Even the writers hadn’t planned earlier to bring Damon close to Elena, but the reaction Damon received eventually made them to go further with the idea. In the end, Elena gets married to Damon and the two end up living a happy life together. All these seemed improbable in the first episode, but funny how things worked out.
5 Times Klaus Mikaelson Deserved Better In The TVD Universe
5. KLAUS AS A HERO
Surely the reputation of Klaus preceded him. When he arrived, he caused demise and destruction. Klaus claimed the lives of Jenna, Carol Lockwood, and numerous other innocents. Majority of the fans wanted Elijah to put an end to Klaus when he was in vulnerable state after completing the hybrid ritual. But fast forward, the fans got ‘The Originals’, a spin-off focusing on Klaus Mikaelson as he comes to terms of being a father while dealing with his dysfunctional family. Nobody neither expected that Klaus could be redeemed nor the fact that he can be a ‘hero’.
4. VAMPIRES & HUMANS
As Vampire Diaries is primarily focused on the Vampire species, it is no surprise that we had an idea that we would witness more vampires on our screen. But what amused the fans is that several human or non-vampire characters ended up transforming into vampires as the story progressed. Characters such as Elena Gilbert, Caroline Forbes, Jenna Sommers, and Vicki Donovan who were the leading ladies and main cast of the Vampire Diaries transformed into vampires within the first three seasons. While all the characters transformed into normal vampires, Alaric Saltzman the so called History Teacher/Vampire Hunter got the privilege of becoming an Enhanced Original Vampire. Even more amusing fact is that several vampires who enjoyed being vampires and used their abilities such as super strength, compulsion, to the full extent lost their vampirism on the show. The list again includes the titular characters such as Katherine Pierce, Stefan Salvatore, and Damon Salvatore who became humans in the later seasons when they consumed the cure.
